\u201cOne of the first colleges to pop up was Michigan State University<\/a>,\u201d she says. \u201cI found out that Michigan State University is one of the Top Business Schools<\/a> in the country. I was impressed. So, I started my enrollment process.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Erica focused on the courses in the online Professional Certificate in Supervisory Management<\/a>\u2014”I\u2019ve already completed two classes. I have one more to go until I finish my first certificate.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Of her experience in the certificate program so far, Erica says, \u201cI have learned so much in such a short time. I love that the classes really tie together. Some of the topics that were discussed in my management class were tied to my leadership class. This created a full-circle, big-picture learning experience for me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Erica can tell that \u201cthese classes are already impacting my career. I have learned how to better delegate tasks to my team, especially tasks that weren\u2019t necessary for me to complete\u2026This has saved me time and given me an opportunity to work on other things that have been sitting on the back burner.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n One of the most valuable takeaways so far in helping Erica realize her potential as a leader has come from the Leadership Essentials<\/a> course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI learned about my Myers Briggs Personality Type,\u201d she says. \u201cIt has changed how I approach things in my current position and will help [me] better understand my employees when I move into a management role.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThis certificate will give me the knowledge, skills and abilities to become a manager and a leader,\u201d says Erica, as she targets that Clinic Manager position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Her long-term career goals and immediate departmental needs have Erica looking to what\u2019s next, stating: \u201cThis certificate program was so great, that I enrolled for another one called Analytics for Competitive Advantage<\/a>,\u201d one of the courses in MSU\u2019s online Business Analytics Certificates program<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Her shift in focus from Supervisory Management to Business Analytics speaks to Erica\u2019s ability to see the big picture of her organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cCurrently, our workman’s comp clinic does not have a division analyst. My director has made it very apparent that my team needs some help in this specific area,\u201d Erica explains. \u201cAnalytics for Competitive Advantage\u2026is exactly what I am looking for so that I can help my director with the additional job tasks.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\nSkill Sets for the Future<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
