The King of Supply Chain – MSU Now Top Graduate Supply Chain School

U.S. News & World Report ranks MSU as having the best master’s degree in supply chain management, making the university No. 1 for both graduate and undergraduate supply chain programs.

Michigan State University offers the nation’s No. 1 graduate program in supply chain management, according to the 2018 rankings from U.S. News & World Report.

The 2018 Best Business Schools rankings compare graduate supply chain logistics and management programs at universities across the country. The MSU program, offered through the Eli Broad College of Business, came out on top after U.S. News considered a large variety of criteria, including reputation among peers and how graduates succeed in the workforce.

The graduate school ranking comes after U.S. News ranked the undergraduate supply chain management program at No. 1 last fall.

“We feel extremely proud of achieving these No. 1 rankings with both our graduate and undergraduate supply chain management programs,” said David J. Closs, chairperson of the Department of Supply Chain Management at MSU. “These ranking are a reflection of the hard work and dedication put into these programs by everyone in our department, as well as our sterling reputation in the business world and the success of the university’s graduates.”

U.S. News ranked the MSU business school the best after considering 377 programs around the country. A number of factors go into developing the rankings. They include:

  • Assessment of the Program by Peers in Academia
  • Assessment of the Program by Corporate Recruiters and Private Companies
  • Mean Starting Salary and Bonus of Graduates from the Program
  • Employment Rates for Graduates
  • Mean GMAT and GRE Scores
  • Mean Undergraduate GPA
  • Acceptance Rates for the Program

The competition for the top spot is fierce. Others schools ranked in the Top 10 best graduate schools for supply chain management include the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of Michigan, Ohio State University, Pennsylvania State University, Stanford University. Rutgers University and Carnegie Mellon University.

U.S. News also ranked MSU’s Full-Time MBA program at No. 15 among all public universities in the country, maintaining the program’s position in the Top 15 public programs across all the five major MBA rankings.

In addition to the No. 1 ranking in supply chain management, other graduate programs also received high rankings from U.S. News when compared to other top schools across the country. They include Production/Operations Management (No. 8), International (No. 19), Marketing (No. 21), Management (No. 22) and Accounting (No. 24).

MSU also has expanded its offerings in supply chain management, partnering with Bisk Education in Tampa, Fl., to offer working professionals the chance to earn non-degree Master and Advanced Master Certificates, 100% online. The same highly ranked and award-winning faculty that teaches supply chain management on the MSU campus also teach the online programs. Masters Certificates are available in Logistics, Operations, Procurement, and Integrated Supply Chain Management.
